the Mac Doctor

the Mac Doctor

Sun House, Aldeburgh ,
Who is the Mac Doctor? The Mac Doctor helps his clients around the world (Mostly east Suffolk and London in the UK) with friendly patient advice to use their Apple technology products - Macintosh, iPhone, iPod, iPad etc. I'm Hugh Browton, and I've been using computers since 1972. I've been using Apple Macintosh computers since just after they came out in 1984. I've spent much of my working career in the computer industry, but not exclusively. I choose to do Apple Macintosh computer support because I like the computers, and I like the people who use them. I've been doing this support work full-time since 2002, and I have built up a client base of almost 700 users. Some of these clients are independent professionals, business people, many (of course) are in the creative industries, some are academics, some are still at school, and some are retired people "doing their own thing". I'm good with people, and good with technology (in that order). I also support iPod, iPhone, iPad, Time Capsule, and Apple TV users. Simple websites and their maintenance; broadband and networking; and some Linux.

The Pumphouse

The Pumphouse

Park Road, Aldeburgh ,
The Pumphouse during the Aldeburgh Festival Set in a disused Victorian pumping station, this is a groovy sidekick of The Aldeburgh Festival. 28 hugely varied shows over 3 June weekends incorporate cutting edge contemporary music, burlesque, jazz , poetry and comedy. Built on the marshes in the seaside town of Aldeburgh, made famous by Benjamin Britten and incredible fish and chips, the great and the good, and the incredibly hip can be found drinking Adnams in the audience. This year look out for Martin Carthy, Barb Jungr, Madame Galina, CBSO Tango, and Pekka Kuusisto’s electric violin improvisation on Bach’s D minor partita. The ale flows freely and the reeds sing along with the music on weekend nights during the Festival as The Pumphouse springs to life again. Expect the unexpected as performers take to the stage to premiere new work, try something different or just present their wares in a more informal setting. The Pumphouse’s unique position and relaxed atmosphere combine to make it the Festival’s best-kept secret. For jazz, classical, comedy, cabaret and the curious, take a peek inside the Pumphouse and experience the lighter side of the Aldeburgh Festival. To reach the Pumphouse, go south to the end of the High Street past Aldeburgh Fish and Chip Shop, turn right into Park Road, pass Pegg’s Engineers and turn left down the track.
