Iles Tours

Iles Tours

Monument, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne ,
Hello and welcome to Iles Tours. Iles Tours is a new enterprise aimed at developing a new attitude to Newcastle upon Tyne. Newcastle, long seen as a industrial city that has suffered greatly from the loss of coal and ship production, is now a vibrant post industrial city, ready to be seen, explored and learned about by both tourists and ‘Geordies’ (People who are natives of Newcastle). We at Iles tours would like to invite you to join us in doing this and want to showcase the great history, culture, culinary and amazing things that regularly are going on within the ‘Toon’ (Geordie name for Newcastle). Iles Tours was created and set up in January 2013 as a sole trader enterprise. It was created out of a passion for Newcastle upon Tyne that our founder Alexander Iles has. Newcastle Has a vibrant history going back a thousand years of the settlement with that Name, but over two and a half thousand years history of ‘British’ peoples living in the area of the City of Newcastle. We are really looking forwards to meeting you and being able to show you all of these things and enabling you to fall in love with the ‘London of the North’ as well. Tours Run at 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 The Historical Tour is a hour and a half long and starts and ends at Monument. The tour occurs around a number of iconic locations in the city, such as the Quayside, the Castle Keep and Blackfriars. Other tours are being written and we look forwards to sharing them with you soon! Prices Adult £10, Concession £7 Child £5 We do offer special deals, but please ask on the day!

PeterPan Nursery for Children with Special Needs

PeterPan Nursery for Children with Special Needs

The mission of the Peter Pan Nursery is to provide a high quality nursery provision to children with special needs aged between birth and 5 years old. We also aim to provide much needed support to parents of children with special needs from birth onwards when no state provision is available and parents often feel at their most vulnerable. The Peter Pan Nursery is a registered Charity and relies on donations and volunteers to keep its services running. WHO ARE WE? We are unique within the area and provide early intervention to children in a warm, stimulating environment with fully qualified and experienced staff. The nursery cares for children from Stoke on Trent, Newcastle under Lyme, Stafford, Cheshire and surrounding areas. The children have a wide range of disabilities, conditions and syndromes, such as Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Autism, Visual and Hearing Impairments, Physical delays and Speech and Language delays. WHY ARE WE NEEDED? Nationally, there is no state provision in terms of specialist day care for our children until they reach the age of three years old. The nursery is over 90% funded by donations with the difference being made up by a small charge to parents for the nursery sessions. Currently, we have 40 children on our register and a growing waiting list (currently at 19 children). WHAT DO WE DO? Parents quite often feel a great sense of grief and isolation on discovering that their child has special needs and in addition to our nursery facilities for the children, we have developed a successful support system for parents and carers to help them through this very difficult period. We run courses for parents/carers to learn and practice skills which will be instrumental to their child’s future development. Courses organised at the request of parents might include topics such as MAKATON signing, Positive Parenting, Baby Massage and First Aid. In addition, notable speakers from leading organisations are invited to give talks to parents and staff, informing them of important issues of the day and 'state of the art' developments for their children. OUR AWARDS... In September 2007 and again in 2011 Ofsted judged the nursery as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas of its care and Education. This is the very highest mark they could give and truly reflects the quality of service the nursery provides to the community. NEW DEVELOPMENTS... We have recently moved into a brand new purpose built, single storey unit on land adjacent to a local special school in Newcastle. This is a extremely exciting development for us as the new Nursery has superb facilities including a large playroom, a multi-sensory room, a quiet room for carrying out Speech and Language targets, a secure outdoor play area, modern disabled toilets, changing rooms and a parent’s room. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! In order to maintain our current service levels we must raise at least £180,000 a year from the local community and through the support of local businesses. With additional support and additional staff we could begin to tackle our waiting list. The Nursery makes such a difference to the lives of our families and we would very much like for YOU to be a part of this.
